Yahoo's CEO Carol Bartz is fired over the phone on due to the company's poor performance since she took over in early 2009 when she took over from co-founder Jerry Yang. She has been working for two-and-a-half years in the top job. The announcement was effective immediately. The tech giant said that Tim Morse, Yahoo's chief financial officer, will take over from Ms Bartz on an interim basis. In a note to the whole company sent from iPad, Carol Bartz stated, “I am very sad to tell you that I've just been fired over the phone by Yahoo's chairman of the board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.”
As Yahoo’s CEO since 2009, Ms Bartz has made significant changes to the management team and cut jobs to save on costs. The powerful woman also focused on the traditionally search-oriented firm towards more personalized content.

Former Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz was hired by Yahoo in January of 2009 as a replacement to Yang. Previously, she had worked as former chief executive of software company Autodesk Inc.
In response to Carol Bartz fire, Roy Bostock, chairman of Yahoo's board, said in the statement: "On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank Carol for her service to Yahoo during a critical time of transition in the company's history, and against a very challenging macro-economic backdrop." However, Larry Magid, a technology analyst at C-net, shared that “She hasn't done anything to change the company's fortunes, and they are still anxious to find a leader who can move them up.”
