What is the truth about the United States Marine Corps (USMC)? This is a question that so many people out in the world really want to know, and a question it's taken me Sgt. Allen "USMC" five long years to confront. Find out the ins and outs of the United States Marine Corps and what it really takes to make it. This a short review of the Marine Corps and its purpose as a military force.
The Raggedy ___ Marines!
Today November 10, 2010 the Marine Corps birthday is still just as important to me as my first Marine Corps Ball while on orders at Camp Pendleton, CA. This is a very deep tradition for all Marines regardless if your time serving is up or not. The truth is that at no time did I ever stop wondering and preying for the safety and well being of my fellow Marines now or then. This is a tradition of brotherhood that goes as deep and as far as any ocean.
When they say they didn't promise you a rose garden, they meant it!
In today's times if you don't want to be a marine then you want, but you'll complete the time you enlisted for. To truly become a Marine you've really got to let go of all the logic that our society has ever tried to install in you. The task that Marines do aren't made for logic only mission completion, and that's what it takes to get the job done. There are no I guys in a really tight platoon only guys that know that you may truly hate the Marine standing next to you, but knowing that if anyone on the street ever sad a harsh or disrespectful comment to them that a hell of a fight was coming. Then of course, no mater what you and your fellow marine were in it for the long run and if you get you butts kicked then you'll both go down fighting together to the end. This is the real Marine Corps not the one that Congress wants to show you on T.V., and make polices that only hinder the Corps and endanger Marines. On the other hand I was always told that Marines are here to die! This is a statement that never really did lay well with me no matter what logic that was taken from me during my enlistment.
Marine are the best of the best and the nastiest of the nasty!
The Marine Corps I know get the most warn out equipment from the other branches of the military. Yet, the Marines always find away to keep them running in combat condition. I've never really did any time with Motor-T Marines, but I truly have to take my hat off to the guys who keep this equipment on the road or off. I do however have to question the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps and the Commander of the Marine Corps in wondering how they only want to cut the Marine Corps budget ever year. All Sergeant Majors of the Marine Corps and Commanders have always tried to cut the Marines budgets. Thank god the Navy has enough understanding to make sure that Marines do at least get enough to make the Green Machine function. This may be the only nice thing that I ever say about the Navy except for our Navy Corpsmen who I truly give props too. These guys somehow end up taking care of the big green machines men while all long falling under the Marines Command while under deployment. Once again thanks to all of our Navy Corpsmen!
If you'd like to learn more about the Marine Corps and some of the firefights and battles of our past please follow my articles that I'll continue to post! Until Next time, prey for our Marines and Navy Corpsmen, and if you see a Marine Just walk up and say thanks for his or her service. Believe me, he deserves it!
