While Adolf Hitler became the darkest character in 20th century history, his longtime companion and, in their last hours, his wife Eva Braun was successfully kept guarded secret for years from Nazi Germany. Recently, the cache of Eva Braun’s photos has been revealed by Life Magazine. The photographs feature Eva Braun from early life to the last minute with Hitler.
Eva Braun was the second daughter of a respectable Bavarian Catholic family. Eva was a photographer's model at the age of 17 in a Munich studio of Heinrich Hoffman who was the photographer of the Reich. Eva Braun met Hitler at this Munich studio in 1929 when Hitler was a rising star in the Nazi party. Braun later wrote him, “From our first meeting I swore to follow you anywhere even unto death. I live only for your love.” Shortly before the suicide, Hitler stated “Miss Braun is, besides my dog Blondi, the only one I can absolutely count on.” The couple committed suicide by guns on 30 April 1945.
