Out-of-control oil spill has become the biggest environmental catastrophe in America’s history. BP may have to spend $1 billion protecting the treasured marshlands. The government will endeavor to clean up the areas which are affected by the spill. A sand barrier by dredging and building up outlying sandbanks is planned to be created. A wall is constructed to protect the northern shore of Dauphin Island from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Oil victims of this oil spill range from brown pelicans, seabirds to marine reef. Some sections of the coastline and the Florida Key could be at risk as part of the oil slick could enter the Gulf’s loop current. Federal officials have raised alarms on the damage which has been done to seabirds, marine mammals, and turtles.
