55-year-old Meg Whitman, the former CEO of Ebay and former California gubernatorial candidate, is being considered the possible CEO of Hewlett-Packard as a replacement for current CEO Leo Apotheker. Meg Whitman is best known for her great things at eBay and ability to run successfully such a big company. Meg Whitman started working for eBay since March of 1998 with 30 employees. Currently, the global online resource hires over 9,000 employees. In addition, Ms. Whitman also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Proctor & Gamble as well as Dreamworks.


Meg Whitman offered salary has not been announced yet. However, it is predicted to be higher than Apotheker’s whose severance would be two-times his sum base salary of $1.2 million, which is $2.4 million.

Current CEO Léo Apotheker has kept the position as HP CEO since December 2010. Since then, the stock has dropped more than 20 points or about 50% and nearly 25% on August 19th as he announced to discontinue the webOS business. When Hewlett-Packard board is considering firing Léo Apotheker, HP shares soared 10% based on these reports.
