Katie Couric and her much younger boyfriend, entrepreneur Brooks Perlin, have called it quits after five years together. A friend of Katie Couric's told the press: “They have decided to move on. Brooks is a great person and a real gentleman. He and Katie enjoyed their time together.” Furthermore, the couple was "at different stages in their careers," says a friend of Katie Couric's, who added that their split up was inevitable. The two met at a St. Louis fundraiser for cancer research in 2006. Speaking about 37-year-old Brooks Perlin in April, Katie Couric, 54, revealed: "He's incredibly kind, caring and sensitive. He challenges me in ways I wouldn't be challenged otherwise. Even if we are not on the same page all the time, I like being in his space."
Katie Couric has two daughters with husband Jay Monahan who died at 42 of colon cancer in 1998 including college junior Ellie, 21, and high school sophomore Carrie, 15. Her new untitled talk show will premiere in September 2012. Moreover, after her breakup, Katie Couric will debut her new talk show on ABC in May, while she hosts ABC's "The Year," a two-hour year-end special on December 15, looking back at various newsmakers from 2011.
