A young baby boy Akshat Saxena set new Guinness record because of having the highest number of fingers and toes with a total of 34 fingers and toes. According to a spokesman of Guinness, Akshat was born with seven fingers on each of her hands and ten toes on each of her feet.
Because she is the first child, her parents overjoyed to welcome the birth of their daughter; however, they were so shocked when realizing the number of fingers and toes she had on her body. "I was so happy to see my baby as it was our first child." her mother Amrita Saxena shared, "But later, when I saw his fingers, I was shocked and surprised." Furthermore, the baby was born without any thumbs; however, doctors planned to create a pair of thumbs for her to use. The doctors conducted a series of surgeries to remove her extra fingers and toes and reconstructed the thumbs from one of the remaining fingers. However, she is referred in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most fingers and toes despite the fact they have been removed. The record was previously held by a Chinese 6-year-old boy who had 15 fingers and 16 toes. He had surgery to remove his extra digits and now has ten fingers and ten toes after a six-and-a-half-hour operation at a hospital in Shenyang, Liaoning last March.
