Guidelines for Bride's Speeches

No matter what they say, whether the groom is looking forward to wedding the love of his life as much as his partner is, the wedding is all about the bride! Since the bride was a bridesmaid at her aunt's wedding twenty years ago, she has dreamt of her own day where she too can be the belle of the ball and become just as happy and content. Luckily, due to this, bride's speeches can be as sensible or as comical as she wishes, purely down to the fact that nobody would dare argue.

Pay Your Thanks

The very first thing that is required during any bride's speech is the requirement to say thank you to all of her guests, her friends and family for making the journey to come and spend the special day with them. Tell them how happy you are that all of your favorite and most important people have made the effort and come so beautifully dressed, effort is always nice. At this point, you could pick out a female member from the audience and point out that you are not happy about their attempt on upstaging your wedding dress, just for a little humorous note.

Your chief bridesmaid might do this also but you will also need to pay tribute to the best man – after all, he managed to successfully get your husband-to-be to the church safe and sound and in one piece (hopefully). He has been a good friend to your partner for a long time so you feel better knowing that it was he who was taking care of your beau whilst they celebrated his last nights of freedom.

An Ode to Your Lover

This is the most important part of your speech and undoubtedly, the mid-section that all of your family and friends have been longing to hear all night. It is where you tell the audience why you fell for your new husband in the first place and how glad you are that you remained strong throughout any hard times. Feel free to quote a line of poetry and relate this to how you feel about him; you can be as mushy as you like – It is almost certain to bring tears to your Mother, Aunts and Mother-in-Law!

Try to make a firm point of thanking your Mother and Father-in-Laws, not only for their assistance with arranging your wedding day, but also for teaching their son so well how to be a good person and how to care for others. It is undoubted that you will mean every word and it will really touch them in a very personal way; words said like this as such a prestigious event will never be forgotten. Don't be afraid to let people feel emotional, it will help them to understand how you feel about the day also, and will be a good contrast to the no doubt comedic values of the best mans speech earlier in the evening.
