As wedding themes go, fairytales are possibly the most popular, with many brides using a Cinderella style theme for their wedding. Favor stores have a great range of fairytale wedding favors available to choose from and there are also several you could make at home.
Here are a few ideas for fairytale favors:
Cinderella’s carriage is an iconic part of the tale; you may even have one booked for your wedding transport. The carriage design is available in the form of boxes, candles and soaps. You could also have custom cookies made in the shape of the carriage and iced in your wedding colors or have mini cake made either in the form of the carriage or topped with a sugar craft version.
Cinderella’s carriage wouldn’t have existed without the aid of a pumpkin. Look for favors such as candles or soaps in the shape of a pumpkin. As above you could have cookies or cakes made in the style of a pumpkin. One problem with all of these is that the theme could be lost on your guests who may be wondering what significance a pumpkin has! A good pumpkin based wedding favor would be a recipe for Cinderella’s pumpkin soup (or pie)!
The glass slipper is another iconic part of the fairytale and again favor store stock a range of glass slipper inspired favors. These include candles, soaps, bottle openers and bottle stoppers. Make your own scented sachets in the shape of a slipper or again have cookies made and iced accordingly. If you can find them, slipper shaped chocolates make for an inexpensive favor.
In any fairytale there is often a princess and a prince charming, so have cookies made as his and hers favors in the form of a princess and prince. Other fairytale elements include castles, roses and fairy godmothers. Crowns and tiaras also lend themselves to a fairytale theme. Candle holders in the shaped of either of these are available in favor stores along with photograph frames.
Instead of buying favors in the shape of these various items, you could include them on your packaging and give favors which are far simpler (and cheaper) instead. For instance, you could theme favor boxes to a fairytale theme with crown or tiara stickers enhanced with stick on gems. Or you can design your own labels on your computer to include fairytale graphics which you could then attach to your favors.
