Arizona: Stand on Same sex Marriage
According to our beliefs and our laws, marriage should be a union of both men and women. It is done at a legal age and shall be done in a process as recognized by the state on where it will be conducted. This has been a long time practice not until the emergence of homosexuals. Looking at the society today, we have to admit that even it is not officially proclaimed, gender has exceeded more than two classifications. Yes, we are accustomed to having male and female yet it is clear that we have gays and lesbians existing. As time grew, more and more people have accepted a relationship that used to be a social taboo.
Marriage now is an issue to most of the states in America. In Arizona, there has been a clear-cut law stating that same sex marriage is prohibited. They have stressed what is defined in the Federal Law that marriage should be between man and woman and this state can deny the benefits and status of same sex marriage as recognized in other states. Sad to say wedding photography in Arizona to cover the ceremony, sunset weddings in the grand canyons and other marital perks in this state cannot be given as their privilege.
However, getting married for same sex relationship is accepted in Massachusetts and Connecticut as well as California. These states have provided all benefits of marriage for heterosexuals. However, the problem being posed here is whether getting married in a state allowing such marriage would be recognized in other states. That could be a problem if certain states have movements to abolish such ruling. The truth is majority of the states have taken action so that acceptance of such marriage will not be accepted. However, states like New York recognize such status though it is a fact that it cannot be the ceremony itself cannot be legally performed in this state. Even marriages performed in countries like Canada are recognized too. The state of New Jersey is also one of those states who have provided rights and benefits to same sex marriage that are alike of the homosexual partnership.
The states mentioned above can be their haven. If lesbians or gays want to be unified legally, note the two states. Do remember this kind of marriage has been voted out in Arizona. This has been banned since 2006 and there have been no signs that people do want it to be reversed. Well that just prove plain fact that marriage in this state will only be for heterosexuals not unless some people show signs to embrace it.
For the meantime, heterosexuals may possibly benefit having their honeymoon in this state. Probably have their pre-wedding photography in Arizona where they can enjoy the sun-filled land areas. Other than that, they could not settle in this state while having the benefits of marriage and nor live in this state to be recognized. Bear in mind, this state does not conduct nor legally recognize same sex marriage despite being approved in countries like Canada, Belgium, Spain, South Africa, Norway or even states like Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Summary
No matter how open the society is in accepting gays and lesbians, some have remained very conservative in accepting laws with regard to their marriage. It is quite understandable if two people (whether same sex or not) in love want to marry. However, only two states allow such union and only three states who can recognize such marriage. Arizona belongs to the many states who have opposed to such ceremony.
